In the setting of Cernusco sul Naviglio, this small apartment has been completely redesigned to meet the needs of the new owner, a young professional.
The renovation emphasized a feature that is often not possible to guarantee in small to medium-sized apartments, but which, in reality, has a utility all its own that is worth rediscovering: the entrance. This, like the other “servant” spaces in the home, is conceived as a monochromatic box where all the surfaces are permeated by the same colour. There is always one exception to this rule: one wall. In the entrance, painted in a shade of sugar-paper blue, a wallpaper, customized in tones, creates a perspective view from the living room onto a drawn landscape. The connecting element between the two environments is a wardrobe-coat closet that extends into the living-area, which has been enlarged by merging the old living room with the kitchen, and it dialogues with the equipped wall of the cooking area, characterized by the same colour.
The living area is particularly bright, with white walls that reflect the light and allow the wide-plank oak parquet flooring, bevelled and brushed, to stand out. The furniture and accessories have clean lines and soft colours.
A flush-to-wall door leads to the sleeping area, a space of complete privacy. The corridor and bedroom have the same finishes as the living area, with white surfaces and honey-coloured parquet. The walk-in closet, on the other hand, echoes the entrance area: a small monochromatic box, this time in olive green, where the exception is the full-height sliding door covered with wallpaper featuring the same landscape as the entrance, but in different tones. The bathroom features a light grey resin treatment on the floor and white on the walls, contrasting with the shower area where terracotta-coloured tiles, sometimes flat, sometimes in a three-dimensional zigzag pattern, enhance the back wall and the niche seat.
Everything in this small apartment contributes to creating a calm, welcoming, and convivial atmosphere.
Once again, the renovation of an interior provided an opportunity to study a specific design, transformed and tailored to the needs of those who will live in the spaces, allowing them to truly feel at home.
